Olivier Lazare was appointed as Country Chair Russia in January 2013. He is French and has a PhD in Nuclear Physics.
Olivier joined Shell in 1985 in The Netherlands as a Junior Petroleum Engineer, working both onshore and offshore in the United Kingdom (Southern North Sea and Northern North Sea), Gabon, Brunei and Oman. Until 1998 he worked in Contracting and Procurement in The Hague in both procurement and logistics, which allowed him to work with Downstream Retail and Manufacturing in various countries such as Japan, Thailand and France. For 2 years he worked in internal consulting prior to moving to NAM (Shell/XOM JV in the Northern Netherlands) as Head of Planning, Strategy and Shareholder relations.
In 2003 Olivier moved to EPB and led several New Business Development projects for Shell in the Far East, particularly in Australia, where he helped establish a new heartland for Shell’s LNG business.
From March 2006 to December 2012, he was Vice President of New Ventures and New Business (formerly EPB New Business Development) for the Upstream Americas region of Shell’s Exploration and Production, based in Houston, Texas.
Married to Pascale and they have two children. Olivier’s hobbies are traveling, scuba diving, running, used to play rugby and sail a lot too, but less of that right now.
